Sustainable Media Ireland Purpose

Sustainable Media Ireland brings the Irish media sector together to learn, share knowledge and experience, and partner on sustainability initiatives and campaigns.

Promote best practice

The Network fosters best practice and supports Members to improve their performance on environmental and social issues.

Galvanize positive action

The Network encourages Members to use their collective voice to inspire positive action across society on the sustainable development agenda.

Encourage collaboration

The Network provides a forum for collaboration and partnership between the media sector and with external organisations.

Sustainable Media Ireland Governance

Sustainable Media Ireland is an initiative of Coimisiún na Meán. Established in November 2020, it was originally called the Broadcasting Sustainability Network, before being re-named as Sustainable Media Ireland in 2024.

It is governed by a Steering Group made up of Network Members representing the different parts of the media sector.
