The topic: This event will unite key stakeholders from the media, government, business, and civil society to delve into the pivotal role of the media in driving positive progress on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

As an SDG champion under the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications (DECC) SDG Champions programme, RTÉ is delighted to be hosting the event and to be bringing fellow SDG champions together with the Irish media industry to share ideas on sustainable development.

We hope to see many Network member organisations there for what promises to be a fascinating conversation. Please share this information and the registration link below with your colleagues. Everyone is welcome.

12.30: Fireside chat on The role of the media in driving progress on the SDGs.

With David Donoghue, Ireland’s former representative to the UN (from 2013 – 2017) and co-facilitator of the intergovernmental negotiations on the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development. In conversation with Sinéad Crowley, Director of Media Development at Coimisiún na Meán and Dave Robbins, Director of the DCU Centre for Climate and Society.

14.00: Ireland’s progress on the SDGs: an overview from Mary Smyth, SDG Division of the Central Statistics Office

14.10: Panel discussion on How business, communities and the media can collaborate to deliver on the SDGs.

With panellists from the SDG champion programme and various media organisations.

Moderated by Claire Hyland, Independent Chair of the Sustainable Media Ireland Steering Group, and Head of the Youth Lab at Thinkhouse.
