Sustainability Lunch & Learn #1 – Media as a Catalyst for Climate Action

Sustainability Lunch & Learn #1 – Media as a Catalyst for Climate Action

*Note, these sessions are for Members of the Network including staff and volunteers

The date: Tuesday 5th September, 1 – 2pm, on zoom

The topic: In this session we’ll explore issues such as the role of the media in reporting on the climate crisis, in advocating for policy change, and in amplifying voices of climate activism. We’ll discuss hot topics such as countering misinformation and navigating challenges around sponsorships and advertising.

The speaker: Manuel Salazar is a technology strategist and climate advocate. Hailing from Venezuela, where he witnessed ecological depletion from fossil fuels, he now resides in Dublin, where he has played key roles for Extinction Rebellion in their activism activities. Manuel’s leadership in the 2019 Extinction Rebellion Week and his role in the formation of the Irish Universities Environmental Coalition underline his commitment to driving change from within, inspiring corporate and climate activism discussions across prominent Irish universities. As part of the Climate Rising Docklands group and with the support of Trinity College, Creative Ireland and Brokentalkers theatre company, he has highlighted the role of corporations in addressing climate change and how employees can take action from the inside.
