Sustainability Lunch & Learn #3 – Sustainable Energy Communities: Local Climate Action
*Note, these sessions are for Members of the Network including staff and volunteers
The date: Tuesday 3rd October, 1 – 2pm, on zoom
The topic: In this session, we will hear about the role that Sustainable Energy Communities (SECs) can play in creating a sustainable, low-carbon future for Ireland. The SEC programme started as a research project in 2006 and the current SEC Network launched in 2015. The programme now includes over 750 communities from around Ireland. Tune in to be inspired by stories of how these communities are working together to achieve their energy goals.
The speaker: Ruth Buggie is the Sustainable Energy Communities Programme Manager with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI). Ruth is responsible for the development and deployment of the SEC programme to support the development of a community approach to energy and to stimulate a national move towards sustainable energy practice through demonstration in exemplar communities. More recently this role has extended to include the energy in education and youth engagement programme areas.
